Serco has secured a $125 million contract from the U.S. Navy to provide naval ship design and integration support for the Naval Systems Engineering and Logistics Directorate.

The IT service management company will assist the directorate’s Surface Ship Design and Systems Engineering Group in executing combatant ship integration efforts to fulfill the contract’s requirements.

In a statement, Mike Fortune, vice president of the organization’s maritime, engineering, technology and sustainment business, said Serco’s modern design technologies and skilled engineers will help the Navy address emerging challenges in digital engineering, cyber architecture, high-energy weapons integration and hypersonic missile defense.

He noted that the company’s decades-long partnership with Naval Sea Systems Command helped introduce new designs and innovations to the Navy’s fleet of destroyers, frigates, small combatants, and unmanned and autonomous systems.

According to Serco, its work under the agreement will be implemented on surface ships, craft, boats, unmanned vehicles, associated systems and subsystems, warfare/combat systems, control systems and sensors.

The contract has a one-year base period and five one-year option periods.
