The Department of Homeland Security has awarded Blackberry a seven-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to deliver and sustain an emergency notification system.

Under the contract, Blackberry will work with American Systems and 4 Points Technology to provide AtHoc, a secure critical event management solution that will serve as the new DHS Super Enterprise for Personnel Emergency Notification System.

According to Blackberry, 75 percent of the federal government and other organizations around the world use BlackBerry AtHoc for crisis communications and incident response. AtHoc provides DHS with flexibility, allowing the agency and its components to configure the CEM solution according to their mission needs.

John Chen, executive chairman and CEO of Blackberry, said his company has been “a proud partner” of the federal government for nearly three decades.

“This new award is a testament to the faith that they have in BlackBerry and our innovative technologies, and the DHS can be confident that BlackBerry will meet and exceed their needs,” he added.
