GDMS Lands $1.3B Deals to Support Canadian Army’s Modernization Efforts

General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada has received four contracts worth around $1.3 billion to support the Canadian Army’s modernization efforts.

Under the four agreements finalized with the Canadian government, GDMS-Canada will provide digital services for the Army’s Land Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance system.

Awarded as part of the Land Command Support System program, the four contracts require system engineering and integration services, core network sustainment services, application sustainment services, and intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance support.

Joel Houde, vice president and general manager of GDMS-Canada, said the new deals will advance the Canadian Armed Forces’ digitization programs and enable the country’s military to meet the challenges of the modern battlespace.

The contract wins follow an award secured by GDMS-Canada in November requiring the defense contractor to provide in-service support for the Canadian Navy’s Halifax-class combat systems.

Ottawa said $136.4 million will be spent on the deal, which will run for six years or until the arrival of the Canadian Surface Combatants that will replace the country’s fleet of Halifax-class frigates.
