Navy Awards $112M Super Hornet, Growler Spare Parts Order to Boeing

Boeing

Naval Air Systems Command has ordered avionics parts and spares and special test equipment from Boeing for the F/A-18E/F Block III Super Hornet and E/A-18G Growler aircraft used by the United States, Kuwait and Australia.

The order, worth $111.89 million, requires Boeing to provide products with long lead times and those that are no longer produced or will become obsolete.

According to the Department of Defense, the components will support the aircraft’s advanced crew station suite, including a low-profile engine fuel display, a large-area display and a low-profile head-up display.

Work under the contract will be performed in various U.S. states, Israel, Canada and other locations through May 2028.

According to a BulgarianMilitary.com report, Boeing plans to stop producing Super Hornet multirole aircraft in 2027 due to dwindling sales.

The company’s delivery of 17 F/A-18s to the Navy by 2027 is expected to be the last batch of Super Hornets manufactured.

The report indicated that the production would end in 2025 if not for the $1.3 billion order the Navy awarded to Boeing in March.

In early 2023, Janes reported that the contractor was also set to stop producing Growlers, which provide advanced electronics jamming capability, by 2025.
