The U.S. government has sanctioned five entities and two individuals from Iran, China, Hong Kong, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates for their involvement in supplying parts Iran requires for its one-way attack drones.

In its announcement Wednesday, the Department of the Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control identified the designated organizations as:

  • Pishgam Electronic Safeh Co.
  • Hongkong Himark Electron Model Ltd
  • Dal Enerji Madencilik Turizm Sanayi Ve Ticaret Anonim Sirketi
  • Anka Port Ic Ve Dis Ticaret INSAAT Lojistik Sanayi Limited Sirketi
  • Farhad Ghaedi Goods Wholesalers

The agency also designated PESC CEO Hamid Reza Janghorban and Fan Yang, a Hongkong Himark official, active participants in their respective companies’ transactions with Iran.

According to OFAC, the seven additions to its sanctions list assisted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization in securing servomotors for Iran’s Shahed series of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Washington maintains that Iran provides Russia with the Shahed drones to support its war operations in Ukraine. Ukrainian authorities also have reported recovering one of the servomotors identified with the network from a recently shot-down Shahed-136, OFAC said.

Brian Nelson, undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence at the Treasury, noted that Iran’s UAVs continue terrorizing Ukraine’s citizens and targeting its key infrastructure.

“The United States, in coordination with our allies and partners, will persist in holding accountable those who contribute to Iran’s proliferation of its UAVs to Russia, its proxies in the Middle East, and other destabilizing actors,” he said.

The latest sanction blocks the designated individuals’ and entities’ properties in the United States. All transactions with U.S. nationals and within U.S. territory that involve the blocked properties must be reported to the government, according to OFAC.
