French defense and aerospace company Thales has finalized its acquisition of Australian cybersecurity firm Tesserent, a deal that it said will contribute to building its cybersecurity business worldwide.

Tesserent’s full suite of cybersecurity solutions and services delivered a 2022 turnover of $117.4 million, making it one of the leading industry players in the country. Its website lists technical assurance and testing, data and analytics, cloud services, and security advisory services as among the solutions that it offers.

Thales first made public its intention to acquire the company in June, a deal a CRN report valued at $112 million.

According to Thales Australia and New Zealand CEO Jeff Connolly, the transaction makes Thales a solid government partner with Tesserent’s cyber portfolio in defense, security and critical infrastructures, helping Canberra “achieve its ambition of Australia being one of the most cyber-secure countries by 2030.”

In a separate move in July, Thales entered into an agreement to acquire another cybersecurity vendor, California-based Imperva, for $3.6 billion.

Thales forecasts that Imperva will bring in revenue of about $500 million and build its data and application security business “significantly.” That acquisition is expected to close in early 2024.
