Leidos has set up an air traffic management research and collaboration center in Singapore to deliver safe and efficient air navigation solutions in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ed Sayadian, senior vice president of transportation solutions at Leidos, said the center will facilitate the company’s engagement with international air transportation stakeholders to advance critical air traffic management capabilities.

Leidos has appointed Axel Bensch as the center’s head. He brings to the role over two decades of commercial aviation and ATM expertise.

Bensch will run the center and concurrently direct Leidos’ business operations in the region, according to the company.

The center’s initial project is to partner with regional universities, research institutes and key industry players to enhance regional air traffic operations.

Leidos said it intends to draw from 65 years of collaborative efforts with air navigation service providers to deliver the highest level of airspace services to customers.

The new center is expected to put Leidos in a strong position to capture new market opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region, allowing the company to establish itself as a market leader and driver of innovative ATM solutions.
